Katherine Bromfield
I used to think it was an accident that I am a family lawyer but on reflection it is not an accident that family law is where I have found meaning and purpose in my working life.
I was brought up by a single mother, a warrior and a survivor of family violence in a generation who would never describe themselves as such. I was later part of a blended family in which I learned that the people you love and belong to can not always be found on your family tree.
I have always felt compelled to advocate for those who are disempowered or overwhelmed, hence I started my legal career at Legal Aid before working at a number of different private law firms.
Family law clients are generally at the most vulnerable and uncertain juncture of their lives and the stakes could not be higher - the safety and welfare of their children or their future economic security, or both.
I gain enormous satisfaction from providing my clients with the benefit of over 10 years experience as a family lawyer and the resources and support they need to navigate the path to an outcome.
